The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) observed International Mother Language Day and Language Martyrs’ Day by organizing a ProvatFeri (morning procession) to the Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday, 21 February 2026, to honor the martyrs of the historic 1952 Language Movement.
The program was organized by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW) and brought together university officials and students to pay homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of the Bengali language. The ProvatFeri was led by Mohammad Rakiv, Acting Director, DSW. The procession concluded at the Shaheed Minar, where floral wreaths were placed at the altar as a mark of profound respect.
Among the officials present were Ms. Aktarun Yesmin, Administrative Officer, DSW; Rakibul Hasan Ornob, Assistant Administrative Officer, DSW; Mr. Md. Sadique Hasan Polash, Assistant Public Relations Officer, PRD; and Mohammad Main Uddin, Campus Superintendent, along with enthusiastic students from various departments of the university.
UAP’s observance of International Mother Language Day underscores the university’s strong commitment to cultural identity and heritage. Through this commemoration, UAP encourages students to connect with their history and appreciate the significance of their linguistic roots.
