On April 29th and 30th, the Department of Pharmacy hosted a vibrant two-day event organized by the Pharmacy Debating and Public Speaking Club-Tarkik. The program combined an intensive parliamentary debate workshop with a high-stakes competition, aimed at fostering critical thinking and eloquence among pharmacy students.
The event was headlined by Mr. Sallal Hossain, a renowned figure in the debating circuit. Mr. Hossain brought a wealth of experience, having served as the President of the Amar Ekushey Hall Debating Club and Joint Secretary of the Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS). Known for his appearances on BTV’s national debate programs and his mastery of the Barowari format, he provided students with an unparalleled learning experience. The first day was dedicated to a comprehensive workshop where Mr. Hossain covered the details of parliamentary debate. Participants were mentored on constructing logical arguments under pressure, understanding the roles of the Government and Opposition benches, mastering the art of extemporaneous speaking and structured delivery. The second day saw students putting their new skills to the test in a spirited parliamentary debate competition. The sessions were characterized by sharp rebuttals and persuasive rhetoric, showcasing the participants' rapid growth.
The event concluded with a formal closing ceremony graced by Dr. Zabun Nahar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy. Dr. Nahar commended the initiative and encouraged students to continue honing their public speaking skills. She then presented crests to the winners and runners-up, marking the successful end of a significant milestone for the club.
