Pitha Utshob at L& HR Dept, UAP


The Law and Human Rights (L&HR) department of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized a "Pitha Utshob" on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at university's city campus.

The event provided the students with a platform to interact with each other and to experience Bengali culture. Different semester's students of the departments brought in homemade pithas.

Around50 types of delicious pithas were sold and displayed in the uthsob that was included bhapa pitha, patisapta, dudh puli, chitoi pitha, chocolate cake, custard cake, jhal pitha, shahi tukra, payesh etc.

Moreover, every student of the department was dressed in traditional clothes; ladies in sarees and the men were in panjabis. The popular Bangla songs added more delight to the enthusiasm of the pitha utshob.

Earlier, the event was inaugurated by L&HR chairman Dr. A. N. M Atahar Ali while teachers, students and visitors present the function.

The prices of the pitha ranged from Tk 10 to 50 per piece, which is a bit beyond the affordability of most students.

The daylong festival was started at 10.30am and ended up with a prize giving ceremony at 5pm.
