CFA organized a Seminar on Good Governance

Club of Finance & Accounting (CFA) of the Department of Business Administration (DBA), University of Asia Pacific (UAP), has successfully organized a seminar titled “Roles of Regulators and Directors to Ensure Good Governance” on 9th February 2023. The seminar primarily focused on the roles of directors, particularly independent directors, and regulators in the banking industry to protect and promote the interest of all the stakeholders.



The seminar was inaugurated by the honourable chief guest, Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Professor and Dean, School of Business, UAP. Following the inaugural speech, Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily invited the keynote speaker, Md. Abul Quasem.


Md. Abul Quasem is an Independent Director of Bank Asia Limited and a Former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Limited. Mr. Quasem has been working in the banking industry for about 47 years. Additionally, he is serving as Independent Director for Anwar Galvanizing Ltd. and Baraka Patenga Power Ltd.


During the speech, Mr. Quasem shared his extensive knowledge and experience of working for the apex regulator of the banking industry, Bangladesh Bank, in ensuring good governance. The keynote speaker also discussed his role as an Independent Director of Bank Asia Limited. Mr. Quasem’s speech ended with an interactive question-and-answer session with the students.

The seminar was concluded with a crest being presented to Mr. Quasem, followed by a vote of thanks from the Head of DBA, Dr. Mahbubul Haque.
