Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, Dean, School of Environmental Sciences and Design, UAP, for leading the restoration of the 360-year-old ‘Dhaka Gate’

UAP congratulates its Dean of the School of Environmental Sciences and Design, Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed, and his team for restoring the 360-year-old ‘Dhaka Gate’, a historic landmark in Bangladesh.

After completion of the renovation, the ‘Dhaka Gate’ was inaugurated by DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on January 25, 2024.

The Dhaka South City Corporation stepped in to save this historic monument, and Prof. Dr. Abu Sayeed, a renowned Architect and Architectural conservation specialist, led the work as the project's consultant.

It stands as one of the oldest examples of Mughal architecture in the capital, and it holds a significant place in the city's past. Over the centuries, Dhaka Gate endured severe damage and was rebuilt in 1825 by Charles Dawes, the then magistrate of the city.

UAP family is immensely proud of him for his success and wishes him all the best.
