Celebration of World Mental Health Day -2023


University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has celebrated the “World Mental Health Day -2023” this year. As mental health is now a global priority, the purpose was promoting mental health well-being among all the students, faculty and staffs of UAP. To make this purpose successful, Social Counselling Center, DSW arranged a three days mental health awareness program in the month of October.

10th October, 2023 was the first day of celebration. Mental health awareness campaign was arranged. Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan,Vice chancellor of University of Asia Pacific (UAP) inaugurated the campaign. The program was bestowed by Prof. Dr. Sheikh Anwar Hossain, Treasurer of UAP, Dr Md. Naimul Hakim Khan, Medical Officer, Dr.A.S.M Mohsin, Director of DSW and Md. Tarek Khan, AD, DSW. Dr. Nehreen Majed, Head of the Department of Civil and Dr. Jakia Ahmed, Head of the department of English attended the program. Ayesha Islam, Socio Counselor of UAP was the in-charge of the whole campaign. Students from different departments visited the campaign and took mental health services.

11th October, 2023 was the second day of the celebration. The mental health campaign started with the warm welcome of Director, DSW of UAP. Faculties and Staffs of UAP visited the campaign several times. Students were very interested to take counselling sessions and also collect psychological assessments tools from the stall. They shared their mental health service needs with the Socio Counselor of UAP.

12th October, 2023 was the last day of Celebration. A Mental health workshop was facilitated by Ayesha Islam, Socio Counselor of UAP. She discussed about what counselling/psychotherapy is, mental health challenges of young adults, some psycho education on mental health disorders and some self-help techniques. Students participated in different activities of the workshop and in the end, they shared their positive feelings about the mental health workshop.
