National IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities held at UAP

The daylong National IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities was held at the University of Asia Pacific campus (UAP) on May 30, 2022. The competition was jointly organised by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) with the help of Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID) and UAP.

Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor, UAP presided the closing and prize giving ceremony while Mr. MM Ziaul Alam, PAA, Senior Secretary, ICT Division; Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, PAA, Executive Director, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC); and Mr. Khandakar Zahurul Alam, Executive Director, CSID addressed the program, among others.

A total of 107 differently-abled youths, aged between 13 and 19, took part in the competition this year in four categories: Visual Impairment, Physical Impairment, Speech and Hearing Impairment, and Neuro and Development Disabilities (Autistic or Autism). Twelve of them became winners and received a smart phone, certificate and crest each while the champion in each categories received a laptop. All contestants participating in the competition worked on Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet.

Earlier, Mr. Md. Enamul Kabir, Director, BCC and Professor Dr. Aloke Kumar Saha, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UAP jointly inaugurated the competition.
