2nd Seminar of English Department ‘CPAD Seminar Series’



The 2nd seminar of the Continuous Professional and Academic Development (CPAD) Seminar Series of the Department of English, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was held at the UAP auditorium on 16th August 2023. Professor Dr. MA Baqui Khalily, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Science, UAP, was present in the seminar as the Chief Guest.


Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate Professor and the Convener of the Seminar Committee, Department of English, UAP delivered the opening speech welcoming the audience. He highlighted the rationale behind launching the seminar series and its potential implications in fostering professional and academic development of the teachers and students of the Department.


The session was conducted by two esteemed faculty members of the Department. Ms. Arjumand Ara, Assistant Professor of English, delved into the topic of "Action Research in Higher Education." Her insights shed light on the practical applications of research in our educational endeavors. Ms. Ismat Zarin, Assistant Professor of English, unraveled the intricacies of "Research Methodology." Research is the cornerstone of academic and professional growth, and her presentation was enlightening for all. Each presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session.


The Chief Guest of the program Professor Dr. MA Baqui Khalily, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Science, UAP, in his remarks, appreciated the Department of English for initiating this valuable seminar series and expressed his hope that it can go a long way not only to equip our faculty members with the tools necessary for their own growth but also to ensure that they provide their students with the best possible learning experiences. He also highlighted various important aspects of conducting academic research and underscored the importance of multidisciplinary research. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mizanur Rahaman, Dean, School of Engineering also shared his experience of attending the seminar and appreciated both the speakers for their wonderful deliveries on two very important aspects.


The seminar was also attended by Dr. Nehreen Majed, Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering; Dr. Zakia Ahmad, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English; and other faculty members of the Department in addition to a large number of interested students of the Department. Ms. Tasmiah Akhter, Lecturer, Department of English hosted the seminar.
