UAP Inter Department Basketball Tournament, Spring 2024 with EEE Clinching the Title

The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) celebrated the conclusion of its Inter Department Basketball Tournament, organized by the UAP Basketball Club, DSW, marking a significant milestone in its sports calendar for the Spring of 2024. The tournament, which saw enthusiastic participation from all eight departments, culminated in a gripping final on October 8, 2024, where the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) emerged victorious over the Department of English to clinch the championship title.

The tournament was structured into two groups, with Group A comprising the Departments of Pharmacy, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Business Administration (DBA), and Group B featuring the Departments of Law and Human Rights, EEE, English and Architecture. After a series of round-robin matches that played on Saturday, October 05, 2024, Department of Pharmacy and the Department of Civil Engineering advanced as the top two from Group A, while EEE and English led Group B into the semi-finals.
The semi-finals, held on October 07, 2024, were fiercely contested, showcasing the skill and determination of the participating teams. EEE secured their place in the final by defeating the Department of Civil Engineering, while English overcame Pharmacy in a match that was equally thrilling and got nail-biting finish.

The final, attended by Prof. Dr. Md. Sultan Mahmud, Pro-Vice Chancellor, UAP; Dr. A.S.M. Mohsin, Director, DSW along with many faculty members and a large contingent of supporters for both teams, was a testament to the competitive spirit and camaraderie among the students of UAP. Department of EEE was leading at halftime with a score of 8-4 and did a remarkable job by holding the lead in the second half, ultimately winning the match with a score of 11-4, thus becoming the proud winners of the departmental tournament hosted by UAP.

Beside the 3v3 tournament, there was also a “Free Shooting” and “Fancy Lay-up” contest. There was huge participation in those segments but some exceptional skills and athleticism made students victorious. Here are the winners of those segments.

The Man of the Tournament was Khandaker Asibul Islam from Department of EEE for his exceptional performances in the matches leading EEE to the final and for his performance in final.
