World Bank Team Visits UAP

A world Bank delegation comprised of Mr. John Felden, Director, CHEMS Consulting and Ms. Scherezad J. Monami Latif, Education Specialist, Human Development, Suouth Asia Region called on the Vice Chancellor the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Prof. Dr. Abdul Matin Patwari on Saturday, December 11, 2004. The visit was held to review and analyze the present state of higher education in our country as part of their support to the government in developing a 10 year strategic Plan of Action. 

The World Bank team was given a presentation entitled, "Higher Education at Private Universities: Problems and Prospects" with special reference to UAP, by the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir at the UAP conference Room. The presentation was followed by a lively discussion, which focused on various pertinent issues to the UAP and the country's private universities at large and exchanged views for their further improvement to provide quality graduates of different disciplines, who will lead the country's economic growth. It also highlighted the necessity of the government's assistance in supporting the private universities as they are contributing singnificantly to form a bigger platform in our hihger education. The meeting was also attended by the Registrar and Heads of Departments who participated in the discussion. 

The delegation expressed their satisfaction with a high note at the UAP's present condition and activities, and wished its further success.
