Dr. sc. ETH Zurich, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland, 2015
M.Sc. in Engineering, Kunsan National University, South Korea, 2011
B.Sc. in Civil & Environmental Engineering, UAP, Bangladesh, 2007
Mr. Miah worked in the Institute of Structural Engineering (IBK), Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG) at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich), Zurich, Switzerland, as a Scientific Assistant, March 2011- June 2015 and as a Teaching Assistant for Fall 2011. He also worked in the Structural System Laboratory, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Kunsan National University (KNU), Kunsan, South Korea, as a Research Assistant, February 2009 – February 2011 and as a Teaching Assistant for the MIDAS Civil 2006 for Spring 2009 semester. Furthermore, he worked at the Synthesis Architects, Dhaka, Bangladesh, as a Design Engineer (Structural), May 2007 - February 2009.
Mr. Miah's main research interest is in the area of Structural Engineering more specifically; research focuses on Structural Health Monitoring, Smart Materials & Structures, System Identification, Vibration Mitigation and Control (i.e., Semi-active/Active Control, Passive Control), Structural Dynamics & Earthquake Engineering and Structural Analysis and Design. He has developed quite new methodology for Real-Time Vibration Mitigation coupled with Magnetorheological damper (MR damper). His proposed method is capable of not only the real-time vibration mitigation, but also able to handle uncertainties (i.e., modeling uncertainties).
Mr. Miah is a Member of the Institute of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB), Bangladesh as well as American Concrete Institute (ACI), USA. In addition to these, he is an Associate Member of the Institute of Research Engineers & Doctors (IRED), USA.
